MTG 2025 Roadmap And What We Know

The 2025 Magic: The Gathering release calendar has arrived, and it’s packed with exciting new content for fans to dive into. This year brings some significant updates, including the return of MSRP with the release of Foundations, which is expected to benefit players and collectors alike. Additionally, Universes Beyond sets will become Standard-legal starting in 2025. Looking further ahead, rotations will shift to a calendar-year schedule in 2027, moving away from the autumn Standard release. But for now, there's plenty to look forward to in 2025!

Magic: The Gathering 2025 Release Calendar

This covers everything announced so far, but stay tuned for regular updates as we hear more about upcoming sets, Secret Lairs, and any other surprises Magic has in store for us.

Innistrad Remastered (INR) - January 24, 2025

Get ready to groove with dancing skeletons and vampires once again in the upcoming remaster set! This release could offer a fresh take compared to the previous Double Feature, which was a bit underwhelming. If it draws from all the Innistrad sets, this could be a fantastic opportunity to snag some favorite undead cards in MTG—maybe even Edgar Markov, featured in Innistrad Remastered.

Aetherdrift (DFT) - February 14, 2025

Aetherdrift is bringing the thrill of interplanar racing to Magic, blending high-speed competition with the unique landscapes of three different planes. Players can expect new Vehicles to rev up gameplay and teams themed around bold color pairings. At the finish line awaits an extraordinary prize—the coveted Aether Spark—making every turn in this set an adventure worth the journey.

In this set, Daretti steps into the role of a Rocketeer Engineer, introducing inventive twists alongside new artifacts. One standout is the Brightglass Gearhulk, a dual-colored Gearhulk that searches your deck for cards with a mana value of one or less. Also joining the lineup is the Earthrumbler, a Vehicle that powers up by exiling cards from your graveyard, adding a fresh layer of strategy to gameplay.

Tarkir: Dragonstorm (TDM) - April 11, 2025

Tarkir returns with more intensity than ever, packed with epic clashes, clan dynamics, and a lineup of fearsome dragons that bring unforgettable power to your deck. This new Standard set blends the best of both original Tarkir sets, finally uniting dragons and clans in fierce battles—and reintroducing thrilling three-color gameplay. With any luck, we might even see a reimagined Siege Rhino make an appearance for a true nostalgic touch.

Final Fantasy (FIN) - June 13, 2025

Magic: The Gathering is teaming up with the iconic FINAL FANTASY series, bringing elements from all sixteen mainline games to life on the battlefield. Expect to cast legendary spells, call iconic summons, and explore famous locations—perhaps even riding a chocobo! This expansive set will draw from every Final Fantasy title up to XVI, capturing the essence of each world. While some minor characters might not make the cut, fan-favorites like Terra, Noctis, Lightning, Kefka, Tidus, Yuna, and Cloud are confirmed, along with classic summons, weapons, and monsters. This crossover promises a thrilling blend of fantasy worlds for fans old and new!

Edge of Eternities (EOE) - August 1, 2025

Prepare to venture into the unknown with Magic’s space-fantasy set, where “no one can hear you scream in space” but the echoes of powerful spells still resonate. Chart your path through the mysterious Sothera system, wielding arcane forces and battling alien factions across distant planets. Tezzeret emerges as the ultimate cosmic threat, bringing a clash of wizards and interstellar danger. Whether this space realm exists within a plane or connects to the Blind Eternities, one thing’s for sure—this is Magic like you’ve never seen before.

Marvel's Spider-Man (SPM) - TBA 2025

Marvel’s Spider-Man is swinging straight into the multiverse of Magic: The Gathering, bringing fan-favorite cards from across the Spider-Verse! While details are still scarce, we’re likely to see multiple versions of Spider-Man along with his iconic rogues' gallery. From classic villains that always seem to steal the spotlight to potential team-ups with other Avengers, this set promises thrilling battles and web-slinging heroics that will add a whole new dimension to your deck.
